Occupational Hygiene Specialist
An opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Hygienist to join the team at our Dawson Mine on a full-time permanent basis. With your diverse capability in communicating with a range of stakeholders and high level of planning and problem solving, you will add value through your commitment to Health & Safety. You will provide technical advice and support to proactively manage all site-based occupational hygiene risks and opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include the following, not limited to:
- Ensure compliance to the operation’s annual monitoring program for hygiene hazards.
- Identify at-risk exposure groups and develop exposure reduction plan/s.
- Identify, evaluate and control potential or actual occupation hygiene risks.
- Fulfil the role of the Operation’s Hazardous Chemical Coordinator.
- Provision of technical advice, support and guidance to Operation as it relates to occupational hygiene discipline.
- Support the overall delivery of safety and health strategy at Operation.
- Manage the Operations third-party occupational hygiene service provider/s to deliver services relating to occupational hygiene discipline.
- Implement a site wide Occupational Hygiene training and awareness program.
- Maintain the site respiratory protection program.
- Develop and maintain up to date safety and health management system documents relating to occupational hygiene.
- Liaise closely with Operations to support in matters relating to occupational hygiene, including coaching, as required.
With your extensive professional knowledge and highly developed interpersonal skills you will be able to guide, mentor and influence to ensure that Anglo American is at the forefront of industry performance in Occupational Hygiene.
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene or a related Environmental / Health Science field (mandatory).
- 3 years’ relevant field experience in a similar role (desirable).
- Contribute to Implementing WHS Monitoring Processes course (BSBWHS419) is desirable.
- Conversant in Recognised Standard 14 & 15.
- Demonstrable knowledge in implementing Occupational hygiene monitoring plan.
- Full membership with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene is desirable.
- Recognised qualifications in Safety & Health Management Systems advantageous (i.e., S1,2,3; G3; G2,).
- A sound knowledge of Queensland legislative requirements as well as Australian Mining & Resources sector experience and membership with AIOH will be highly regarded.
- Permanent, full-time position at Dawson Mine, Moura QLD
- Monday to Friday site role with 9-day fortnight available
